Open Fire Camping Pancake Recipe

9:01pm, Sunday, 17°c

I was up early today, and soon had a little fire going on the burner. I decided to try cooking pancakes over the open fire..

Here's how I made them..

Ingredients: (makes 3 pancakes)
1 egg
1/2 cup self raising flour
1/2 cup milk
Frying oil

First in a small pan I mixed up the egg, then added the milk, flour & some salt and mixed it up with a fork until I had a good smooth mixture.

Then setting down the pan by the burner, I got the fire burning steadily and heated some oil in my frying pan on the grill over the flames. Then I poured in some of the mixture - my pan is just the right size to make one pancake, but you can pour out accordingly.

Then I simply cooked the pancake on either side until it was browned to my liking. Repeat of course until all the mixture is used. Them I reheated the pancakes all together before serving them with butter. Very simple and really filling and tasty!
